CHRISTY LAMBE FOUNDATION

Branding a Foundation fighting the mental health crisis in the construction industry

  • As part of an ongoing collaboration with strategy studio Lovelace Digital, I was approached to create the brand identity for Christy Lambe Foundation.

The Christy Lambe Foundation was set up by Birmingham-based construction company M Lambe Construction in response to the mental health crisis in the construction industry.

With 2 suicides each working day, 82,000 cases of ill health per year and 27% of all sickness related to mental health, M Lambe Construction are on a mission to champion wellbeing and community in all that they do.

Through the Christy Lambe Foundation they are able to actively support mental health, wellbeing, and homelessness initiatives.

  • We held a series of workshops with stakeholders to reflect on the sensitive context behind the creation of the Foundation.

These sessions led us to the idea of a ‘helping hand’. With this in mind we worked through various ideas and arrived at a logo that acts as a gesture of kindness and support, a reminder that they are here to help.

The typography is friendly, approachable and trustworthy. We chose Co by type foundry Dalton Maag for its distinctiveness and light hearted feel. This is paired with the crisper and cleaner typeface Figtree by Erik Kennedy.

The colour palette brings an energetic yet serene feel to the brand. A rich palette of purple is balanced with the use of black and white. To complement, a bold shade of pink is used in accents and highlights.

A playful linework runs throughout the brand touchpoints, evoking the inevitable ups and downs of life.

As part of the commission, we created a series of icons, social media and deck templates to help the Foundation build brand recognition and consistency across multiple channels.
