SCURA
Web design and social media graphics for narrative-led online platform
-
I was approached by Flawk, a purposefully small-scale property developer, to design the website and social media graphics for their new platform Scura.
Scura is an online platform uncovering the hidden narratives behind design, interiors, travel, and creative spaces. Whether it’s a well-loved home, a carefully crafted object, or an uplifting journey; Scura celebrates what we don’t immediately see at first glance, revealing fresh ways of experiencing the world around us.
At the heart of the brief was a desire to inspire and spark curiosity. Consistency across the website and social media was key, but so was leaving room for surprise, interaction and moments of joy.

Thinking editorial-first and drawing inspiration from magazines, postcards, and bookmarks, we arrived at a minimal yet warm aesthetic, marked by spacious layouts and carefully considered typography.
The homepage opens with images scattered across the screen like magazine pages on a bedroom floor, inviting users to explore and wander at their own pace.
The small coin logo allows users to flip between ‘zine view’ and ‘gallery view’, offering two distinct ways of experiencing the site. Meanwhile, the bottom navigation encourages discovery, allowing users to filter through stories and shape their own journey.
The muted, understated colour palette gives room for thoughtful words and atmospheric imagery. Interiors, homes, and studios take centre stage without visual noise.
The typography is refined and editorial in tone, adding a sense of quiet confidence while elevating the overall look and feel.
The social media graphics echo the calm quality of the website. Taking cues from polaroids and bookmarks, the graphics make space for intimate narrative-led content, feeling closer to a journal than a feed post.
Across both the website and social media, the design strikes a balance between consistency and serendipity, always leaving room for the unexpected.
